crop rotation - is it necessary?

What is crop rotation? What crops need to be rotated? What are the benefits of rotating crops? Is there anything you can do to avoid crop rotation? These and many more questions are answered on my website. Having worked on a farm since I was old enough to pick up a shovel, I have learned nearly everything there is to know about farming crops. I have helped the local organizations harvest enough food from their land to help those who struggle to buy food each year. Hopefully, what I have learned over the many years will help you get the most from your crops.

Thinking About Getting A Vintage Or Antique Ford Tractor To Fix Up? Tips For You

If you love vintage and antique farm equipment and tractors because of their unique look and style, you may find yourself considering the purchase or acquisition of an older Ford tractor to restore and fix up. However, if you have never done any type of antique vehicle or farm equipment repairs and rebuilds, you may not know whether or not this is a process that you will be successful at undertaking. Before you make a decision one way or the other regarding the purchase of a vintage Ford tractor, get to know a few factors to consider in the process. Then, you will be able to better determine if this is a project that you can invest your time and money into successfully.

Do You Have General Mechanical Skills?

One of the first questions to ask yourself when you are considering the possibility of getting an antique Ford tractor to fix up is whether or not you have the basic mechanical skills that will be necessary to accomplish your goals. Chances are that if you live and work on a farm, you have worked on basic tractor and farm equipment maintenance and repairs before. If you are able to maintain and perform repairs on a modern tractor system fairly easily, then you may have the skills necessary to do the repairs on your vintage tractor.

Be sure that you understand how mechanical systems work and the basics of how engine work. These are essential in fixing up an older tractor and will help you to be able to do much of the restoration work yourself.

Can You Get a Copy of the Repair Manual?

No matter how good your mechanical skills are in general, it is important to remember and keep in mind that every tractor make and model is slightly different in various ways. The ways the systems connect; the specific parts; and the sizes of bolts, nuts, and screws will all vary based on the exact tractor you are working on.

Because of this, it is important to be able to get a copy of the general repair manual for the Ford tractor and read it over carefully as you begin working on the restoration project. If the tractor does not come with a printed copy of the repair manual (as many vintage tractors do not), go online and see if you can download the Ford tractor repair manual for your specific year, make, and model. You can then refer to the digital copy of the manual as needed or print off a hard copy to keep with you while you are doing your repair work.

Now that you know a few of the factors to consider when you are thinking about getting a vintage or antique Ford tractor to fix up, you can be sure that you are making the right decision for you and your situation.
